It’s speculation time again! One of the earliest sources of future SWTOR patch leaks stated that HK-47, the popular droid companion from the Knights of the Old Republic series, would be reborn, of sorts, into a new version– as HK-41, and would enter SWTOR as a new companion in Game Update 1.3. How true are those leaks? Good question. Last year, there was some discussion of a quest series that some players thought may start the process to obtain HK-41. The thread was closed with a statement saying that the companion wasn’t currently in the game. And it wasn’t. Then. What about in the future?
In one of the recent Q&A sessions, a player asked the developers about it:
BlazingShadow: “Will we see the return of our favorite droid HK in some form?”
Daniel: “The great thing about droids is that they can be rebuilt. Of course, HK-47 wasn’t the only HK model ever built…”
The answer received does seem to allude to the notion that the leak may be true, and we may see HK-41, which is, of course, another model similar to HK-47.
The subject came up again during the MCM Expo in London last week:
“When are we going to see HK-51 droid?”
A: “Yes, we are not talking about that. I know there has being a few leaks on websites kind of hinting at it so I am going to hint at it as well and that will be all.”
This answer’s even more vague, but it doesn’t seem to necessarily shut down the possibility at all.
The introduction of HK-41 would make a lot of fans pleased, I know. Here is the latest community speculation thread about the droid. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
